I plan to add a can motor and DCC and Soundtraxx Tsunami 2 Sound to TVRR #5 & #6, lower the boiler closer to the frame, and add detail parts to make it look more like a D&RG Class 93/D&RGW C-21...The first step is to modify the boiler, cylinder block saddle, the frame, and the back of the cab to fit the can motor and lower the boiler so it sits down further on the frame.

A "new" Baldwin built outside frame 2-8-0 arrived in Mill Creek at the beginning of 1916. It was purchased second hand from the D&RG to help with the increase in traffic due to World War 1.
The model is an MDC freelanced resemblance of an outside frame Baldwin built D&RG Class 93/112 2-8-0 assembled from a kit. It has the NWSL Re-gear kit already installed! I plan on disassembling it, tuning it up, putting a can motor and DCC/Sound in it, soda blasting and then repainting it and possibly lowering the boiler and adding/changing some of the details. Stay tuned for progress updates and pics as I work on this model!
Well, I've slowly been adding to the equipment rosters; purchasing Blackstone painted unlettered locos and freight and passenger cars as I'm able. So far I have two panted unlettered late version with flared tender side C-19 2-8-0's. I recently acquired an MDC/Roundhouse HOn3 Outside Frame C-21/25 in built up form from a kit...It has the NWSL Re-gear kit already installed! I plan on disassembling it, tuning it up, putting a can motor and DCC/Sound in it, soda blasting and then repainting it, and possibly lowering the boiler and adding/changing some of the details I also have an HO Mantua Big 6" 0-6-0 to use as the Mill Creek yard switcher to switch standard gauge cars for interchange. his will also receive the same treatment as the MDC/Roundhose loco. I will update the loco roster and plan on adding the rolling stock roster to the website shortly. As far as locos; this will round out the roster. I've also been updating operations paperwork and will update that on the operations page of the website shortly.
Narrowed the towns down to 5 from 15. All town names, with the exception of Mill Creek and Tiadaghton, are derived from family's names...
*Alvin; the southern end of the line where the coal mine is located. Inspired by Alvan on the East Broad Top Railroad Named after my great grandfather, Alvin Morgan, a Schuylkill County, PA coal miner that retired from Alcoa
*Morgansdale; the company town of the Tiadaghton Coal Company. Inspired by the town of Robertsdale on the East Broad Top Railroad. Named after my great grandparents, Sarah and Alvin Morgan.
*Tiadaghton; The railroad headquarters. Inspired by the town of Orbisonia on the East Broad Top Railroad. Named after the Pine Creek Gorge in Tioga County, PA
*Kline Mills. Inspired by Aughwick Mills on the East Broad Top Railroad. One of the biggest shippers on the line, the Kline Brothers Sawmill, is located here. Named after my family's last name; Kline.
*Mill Creek; the northern end of the line and the interchange with the standard gauge Pennsylvania Railroad and the reason for the little narrow gauge line's existence; hauling coal to be sent off to the rest of the country via the Pennsylvania Railroad. Inspired by the town of Mont Union on the East Broad Top Railroad. Named after a grist mill powered by the local creek.

I posted on the Facebook page that I was thinking of modeling the RR in HOn3 instead of HO standard gauge and a friend of mine posted a link to a YouTube video of an HOn3 layout of the Tuscarora Valley Railroad that operated in Central Pennsylvania until the late 30's...Tuscarora Valley RR narrow gauge and PRR Layout. I did a Google search and found a track plan or the layout...
I've updated the About, History, and Locomotives sections of the website to match my new vision for the railroad. Next I need to update the operations paperwork to reflect the new smaller number of towns and industries and the smaller locomotive roster.
Well, looks like it's back to the drawing board. In order to make better use of the available spare bedroom in the apartment I've decided to go back to HOn3 but proto-freelanced. This will help in a few ways...
1) Physical size of the trains; narrow gauge trains, although still HO scale, are proportionately smaller so you can fit more in the same space
2) Train lengths are shorter as are the engines and cars and look better in smaller scenes
3) I can still utilize RTR (Blackstone Models) trains and simple HO scale kits
4) It will help me narrow down and better focus on the industries the railroad will serve as well as cut down on the size and number of towns modeled
It will keep the current operations style and rule book and only rosters, towns, industries, and timetables will change. The railroad's history will change a little and the railroad will simply be called the Tiadaghton Valley Railroad; still being owned by the Tiadaghton coal company.
I'll be selling off my standard gauge equipment that I've collected and using the funds from the sale of that equipment to purchase narrow gauge equipment so if you're looking for any standard gauge HO trains contact me for a list of what I have available.
